  2. Microscopic tumor remaining after surgery.
  3.  
  4. Standard Treatment  These tumors are treated in the same manner as Group I lesions.

  6. Five-Year Survival  65 percent

  8. Group III 
  9. Tumors cannot be removed at initial surgery because they have infiltrated into surrounding tissues or lymph nodes , but have not shown evidence of spread to distant sites.

  11. Standard Treatment  These patients are treated with similar combination chemotherapy and radiation after surgery, but may have a second opportunity at surgery to remove the tumor completely after it has decreased in size.

  13. Five-Year Survival  45 percent 
  14.  
  15. Group IV 
  16. The tumor has spread to distant sites at the time of diagnosis.
